Women Leaders in Decision Making

Women’s leadership in Fiji reflects both strong grassroots support and persistent national-level gaps: surveys show that over 85% of rural communities and 81% of young women endorse female leaders, demonstrating cultural readiness for inclusive governance.

Yet at the national level women hold only 29% of seats on State-Owned Enterprise boards and 21% of board chair positions, with more than half of boards still falling short of meaningful gender balance; this contrast underscores the resilience of women at the community level and the urgent need for systemic change to ensure their voices shape decisions from the village to the national stage.

Women in leadership embody wisdom and resilience, guiding with vision and shaping legacies that strengthen communities. Their leadership is not only about breaking barriers but about ensuring that diverse voices are represented and that the future is built on inclusivity, equity, and lasting impact
